The project comprised the construction of a new 4,000m Code F runway, 2 CAT IIIB approaches, located at a separation of 250m to the north of the existing runway at Scotland International Airport including; 9 link taxiways, 2 rapid exit taxiways, as well as the conversion of the existing runway to a parallel taxiway.
The civil works component of the projects included, earthworks, drainage works comprising at catch pits, carrier pipes and box culverts, pavements, surface protection, pavement marking, pits and ducts for airfield ground lighting, power supply and communications networks, foundation for airside equipment installations, 3 substations buildings, and airside roads.
The project included reclamation of the eroded sections of the Coastline to a distance approx. 110m from the Centre Line of the existing runway.
